No-see-um Home Remedies

God’s creation has a vast amount of tiny creatures. Ones that seems to be a bit bothersome are No-see-ums. These tiny creatures are flying insects that are incredibly difficult to spot. They are also known as biting midges, punkies, sand flies or biting gnats. Unfortunately they can fly and are small enough to fit through the mesh screens of windows and doors.

They are sneaky and easy to miss when they swarm you and many people do not notice them until after they have been bitten.

Their bites are itchy and painful and can sometimes transmit diseases to humans in the same may mosquitoes can.

You can minimize your risk of infection and soothe your bites with a combination of home remedies I will share in this post.

  • Earthly Black Drawing Salve Stick

    • This is a salve that can be used for bug bites to reduce itching and draw out stings and itching. It is safe for ages 6 months+.

      • You can watch a video on how to use it here.

  • Baking soda poultice: Mix water and baking soda to make a paste. Apply the paste to the bites for about 10 minutes before rinsing it off. Baking soda can help relieve itching and inflammation.

  • Chamomile poultice: Grind up some chamomile tea, brew it, and let it cool. Soak a clean cloth in the tea and apply it to the bites for a few minutes. Chamomile is an incredible God designed herb and has anti-inflammatory properties that can relieve itchiness.

  • Boiron Calendula Gel: Calendula is another incredible God designed herb with anti-inflammatory properties and able to relieve itchiness. I love keeping this gel on hand, as it has many uses.

There you have it! Four simple remedies for these pesky bites.
