3 simple tips to start a new habit

Have you ever found yourself absorbing every bit of health information you can find, only to realize that you're not actually applying any of it to your life?

If so, you're not alone.

Here's the thing:

Too much information can have a negative impact on our God designed nervous systems. When we are constantly bombarded with excessive amounts of information, it can cause our nervous system to become overloaded, leading to overwhelm + shut down.

While learning is undoubtedly important, it's the action that follows that truly matters. If you are constantly learning + not applying, you are stuck in a cycle that can be detrimental.  If you're ready to start applying what you've learned and make a change for the better, here are three simply ways to do so:

1. Set Specific and Realistic Goals:

It's easy to feel overwhelmed and want to change everything at once, but this approach rarely works. Take some time to set a few specific and realistic goals that you can realistically achieve.

Better yet, make it a SMART Goal. (specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound).

2. Create a Plan:

Once you've set your goals, the next step is to create a plan and put it on paper. It may sound simple, but neuroscience shows us that those who write their goals and plans down are more likely to achieve them. Writing them down also helps get rid of mental clutter, enables you to realize potential barriers, and narrows your focus.

3. Give Permission to Someone to Hold Your Accountable:

Allowing someone to hold you accountable is essential to making lasting changes. Consider finding an accountability partner or joining a support group to help keep you motivated and on track and give them permission to do so. We were not meant to do life alone.

Remember, knowledge is power, but constantly indulging in it without application leads to  overwhelm and inaction.

It's not until you put that knowledge into action that you'll see real results.
